Porth Hir
Isle of Anglesey
Understated luxury combined with the stunning natural beauty of North Wales makes it a sophisticated base for the inquisitive traveller.

Porth Hir is a freshly rejuvenated escape with a seventeenth century pedigree in the heart of up-market Beaumaris, an increasingly sought after seaside town on the rugged Isle of Anglesey. Understated luxury combined with the stunning natural beauty of North Wales makes it a sophisticated base for the inquisitive traveller.
A flat and easy stroll away from Beaumaris’ lively high street, with its art galleries, indie boutiques and great coffee, Porth Hir is peacefully situated on the edge of town right on the seafront. Beaumaris Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is just a few minutes away, while the surrounding coastline offers some of the most breathtaking walks in the region. The nearby Menai Straits, with its ever-changing tides, adds to the sense of calm and beauty that defines this luxury retreat.
Inside, Porth Hir is an effortless blend of modern elegance and coastal charm. The open-plan living space makes the most of those jaw-dropping views, with casement windows with deep window seats framing the epic sea and mountain landscape. The interiors offer a backdrop of a comforting neutral palette, a perfect space in which to unwind. There is a well-kitted out country-style kitchen with a four-oven range cooker, ideal for feeding the troops after a salty and sandy day out. A wood burner in the cosy front lounge has two sink-into sofas, and it can be tempting to give in to that power nap.
On the first floor there’s three elegant bedrooms, along with a further living space that frames a panoramic view across the glittering Straits and houses a tempting sea-view balcony. There are two bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower and one with an en-suite bath if you fancy a long soak and a 3rd bathroom on the ground floor with large walk in shower. The third bedroom with no en-suite is a twin-bedded room. There is also a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower, high-end fittings and soft, fluffy towels.
The compact outdoor space includes a pretty courtyard garden with spectacular views across the Menai Straits, on to the mountains of Snowdonia, and beyond. The small pebble beach opposite is a great spot for your canine family to let off a bit of steam. It’s the perfect corner to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening drink as you plan your hike to conquer the mighty Yr Wyddfa, the highest peak in Wales.
