Tyddyn Du Farm Holidays
Porthmadog
Organic working farm with super friendly animals, cute pygmy goats, curious alpaca, teddybear like sheep, Shetland ponies, ducks and chickens.
Tyddyn Du feels like a peaceful haven you stumble upon once, then tell only your closest friends about. It’s the kind of jewel that we love to uncover for Rarebits guests: unique and individual, thoughtfully created with a clear sense of place.
The converted barns are now five contemporary suites offering comfort with calm and grounded design. Interiors follow a warm, modern rustic style — simple lines, natural textures, and a palette that mirrors the surrounding landscape. Light flows through the large patio windows, framing views of the stunning Eryri countryside and Moelwyn mountains. Everything feels uncluttered, welcoming, and just right.

On the farm, guests can wander to the scenic picnic viewpoints, dog play area and the little oak woodands with a swing. The ideal retreat to immerse yourself in nature.
Luxury here is understated but unmistakable. Kitchens are well-equipped for slow breakfasts or simple suppers. Beds are deep and inviting with down duvets. Bathrooms offer powerful showers and a jacuzzi bath, perfect after a day exploring the Eryri National Park from your doorstep. Step outside and you’ll find private outdoor spaces designed for lingering — morning coffee with birdsong, evenings warmed by sunset colours over the valley.
Tyddyn Du’s location is perfect and central to some of North Wales’ most memorable experiences. Stunning coastal paths, Coed y Brenin Forest Park, Zip World Llechwedd is just a 10 minutes drive away, where you can venture deep into the historic slate caverns or fly above them on the exihlirating zip line. The heritage Ffestiniog Railway winds from nearby Tan-y-Bwlch through forests and mountains to the coast, offering a gentle way to savour the region’s beauty. And for walkers, we are centrally located for all the rugged trails of Eryri - from peaceful lakeside loops, numerous waterfalls, to more ambitious mountain routes.
What sets Tyddyn Du apart is its sense of quiet openness: a place to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and feel connected to the landscape around you. It feels like an invitation to stay somewhere crafted with care, shaped by its surroundings, and waiting to be appreciated by those who value comfort with character.
